Description
Want a fun, unique way to spend a week on the Maine coast? Bid on this week-long trip aboard Maine's official tall ship, the Bowdoin. You and ten of your friends or family will head out of Castine on July 4th and return July 10th with windblown hair and tired cheeks from all the smiling you'll be doing. The captain and crew will treat you right, and are willing to let you help or even go aloft. As if that weren't enough, this trip is planned in conjunction with the Great Schooner Race, where more than two dozen tall ships gather for an exciting all-day race. This year marks the 32nd anniversary of the Great Schooner Race, North America’s largest annual gathering of tall ships! And when you're not in the middle of a race, you'll spend the day sailing, hiking on the shores of remote islands, or exploring small coastal villages. Can you think of a better way to spend a week?
"After a successful bid, three generations of the Knapp family spent a week aboard this historic vessel exploring the Maine coastline. From hoisting the sails to a lobster cook-out on a private island, this adventure is still talked about at family gatherings. Captain John Worth and his crew were magnificent in making us feel at home aboard the Bowdoin and provided a deeper understanding of this special vessel and her colorful past." --Dave Knapp '86
