This beautiful ostrich egg was painted by "Mickey" a 25 year old female African elephant. Both of the elephants at Grant's Farm enjoy expressing themselves artistically. Painting with paintbrushes they hold in their trunks. The ostrich egg however was spray painted, using small plastic tubes loaded with paint and then placing them inside the elephant's trunk and asking them to 'blow.'
