This painting is particularly special since it is the artist's first painting! Machito, the artist, is a 29 year old African elephant. Machito has resided at Miami Metrozoo since 1981 and has just recently been introduced to the enriching activity of painting. Machito created his masterpiece by gently holding the paint brush with his trunk and making delicate brush strokes. He enjoys the enrichment activity of painting so much he chooses to leave his treats uneaten until the painting is complete.
