Named after the famous publishing street in London, the Strand was one of 48 bookstores on Book Row, which started in the 1890's and ran from Union Square to Astor Place. Today, the Strand is the sole survivor.Thousands of new titles are offered at 50% off the cover price, as well as a wide variety of "front list" books ordered directly from the publisher and obtainable at 25% or more off the cover price.
