Description

This Baluchi tribal rug from Afghanistan is a gorgeous investment-quality wool pile and wool foundation rug, measuring 6'5" x 3'11". The photos do not do it justice. The blues are luscious and rich and predominant in the design, and it is woven with NO GLUE backing, so can be cleaned in water.

This rug will make a classic addition to any home or office, and nobody will guess you paid far less than the retail value.

Serafian's Oriental Rugs sells fine hand-knotted rugs from the Middle and Far East.

This rug was woven by the people who speak a dialect of the Baluchi language.  They make up a large number of tribal ethnicities in Eastern Iran, Western and Southern Afghanistan, and Western Pakistan.  About half of the Baluchi speaking people are nomadic while the other half are settled in towns and villages.  Most of the rugs are woven on primitive horizontal looms which can be easily rolled up and moved.  Weavers have complete control over their designs so the variety is quite diverse.
