Jane Butterworth is a licensed Marriage, Family Therapist who practices in Albuquerque.

She has donated to our auction a few priceless pieces made by her mother, Del Nerenberg.  Making needlepoint was Del's passion.  She lived in west Philadelphia and bought her canvasses and supplies at two local needlepoint stores. She made needlepoint for everyone in the family: pictures, pillows, rugs, purses, eyeglass cases, Christmas trees, stockings and ornaments. 

The stuffed animals offered for the auction were her favorites as she always loved toys.  She loved color and intricate and complicated design as you can see in these photos. Del used a variety of threads including silk, angora, leather and metallics.  All of her animals have beading and or buttons.  Del stitched daily, mostly in the evening until the age of 79.  Each piece took her countless hours to complete.  She died in 2002 at the age of 88.

Del Nerenberg's expert stitching was lauded by many.  She had been asked to display and sell her work but chose not to.  Her daughter, Jane Butterworth, said "I know my mother would be happy that her pieces helped to support a good organization like KUNM.
