When the clock is closed and not playing its hourly animation, there is a swinging pendulum with two genuine faceted Swarovski crystals. Then, on the hour, the dial dramatically drops down, small colorful lights flash and figures rotate. An opening melody is played and then one of of the following melodies will play:
