Grandma's Music & Sound was founded in 1982 by guitarist Micky Patten. It started out as a small 1500 square foot store in Northeast Albuquerque and gradually grew as they changed locations, adding a service department and classroom. In 2004 they made the big move to a new custom building on Albuquerque's growing West Side. With over 15,000 square feet they have, among many things, a climate controlled acoustic guitar room and a live performance stage with sound and lighting as well as a full-service factory-authorized repair and service shop. In addition, Grandma's has long been recognized for their excellent staff which includes professional musicians and engineers. They have been the recipient of the Retailing Excellence Award from Music, Inc. Magazine.
