Description
How happy we are to give you the opportunity to bid on a painting by Lynne Loshbaugh. Cat Tech, like so much of Lynne's work, is whimsical and charming.
Inspired by the bold honesty of children's drawings, folk art and primitive art, Lynne Loshbaugh lavishes her canvases with figures who dominate the space with charm and poignancy. Vibrant oils and acrylics, combined with her exquisite instinct for color, carry her message to fruition. She says, "accurate perspective and proportion are not as important to me as rhythm, balance, magic. But my greatest joy is in color - I am happiest when I can stand back from painting and hear the colors sing."
The list of her exhibitions, juried shows, and the collections in which her paintings are included is several pages in length. She says she has a long and boring resume with a tiresome list of accomplishments, some of which are real (!) They are indeed real and impressive. Her work has been exhibited and collected all over the U.S.
Lynne Loshbaugh's paintings can be seen at Hahn Ross Gallery, 409 Canyon Road in Santa Fe. Most of the over twenty painters and sculptors represented by the gallery would be classified as non-traditional in their approach, with much of their art rooted in dreams and fantasy.
Lynne is said to have a wicked sense of humor and a great affection for dogs and humans; especially dogs. Of course cats emerge in her works too, as evidenced by her donation. How they stand up against the human species, that we're not sure of.............
