Description

This concert is part of the Performing Arts of Spain Series, in the Albuquerque Journal Theatre at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, on Friday, November 20, 2009, 8 pm.

A descendant of the Habichuelas guitar dynasty from Granada, Spain and a Latin Grammy nominee for Best Flamenco Album, Juan Carmona has been called "the prince of the flamenco guitar," blending traditional themes with his own innovative, dramatic style.

This is a pair of prime Orchestra Center tickets to see Juan Carmona, who was barely 10 when his father gave him his first guitar. His virtuosity became quickly apparent to professional musicians and it was only a matter of time before he began gathering international acclaim.

He was awarded his degree as a concert musician from the celebrated National Conservatory of Music in Paris, and became a professor of flamenco guitar at the age of 26.

Juan has an impressive series of recordings and concert engagements. He composed Sinfonica Flamenca which has been performed by orchestras worldwide and the Juan Carmona Grupo.
