President Jimmy Carter, President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, is also the recipient of the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize.  His is an American success story - naval officer, peanut farmer from Georgia who served as Governor of that state from 1971 to 1975, U.S.President, and humanitarian extraordinaire.  He and his wife, Rosalynn, founded The Carter Center, a nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization that works to advance human rights worldwide.  Carter also has long been involved with Habitat for Humanity helping people make the dream of home ownership a reality.
