This football is a replica of the one used in the 1973 touch football game between engineering students Tom Fitzsimmons, Rich Davis, Paul Kuzmik, and Gary Borla. While it is approaching 40 years ago - most members of the Class of 73 will recall this epic battle between the athletes vs. the bookworms (the bookworms won). See of special note for more.

The prelude to the game was the argument that engineering students could learn from a textbook and perform better than individuals who learned via practical experience only. The battle was the nerds vs. the jocks way before it was a movie.
