Description

According to the artist, the “Isle of View” depicts his work at UMass ”in 1980 when I was asked to select a site to build a permanent work. I proposed building two bridges to the island to establish a path of desire for the students to take that would connect them with the land form and create a place to pause and meet with varied materials to engage all the senses of their journey.”  Mr. Trakas has devoted the past thirty years to creating environmental sculptures that often take the form of bridges, pathways, and docks. His interest in water resource issues, tides, currents, and shoreline construction is manifest in a wide range of projects from the Beacon Point Project at Beacon Landing, a public park owned by Scenic Hudson, Berth Haven at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Seattle, Washington to Sword Bridge in Thiers, France. He has exhibited his sculptures, drawings, and installation works at such institutions as The Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, The San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art in San Diego, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and the Louisiana Museum in Copenhagen.

This etching is matted and framed, and signed by the artist. The framed size is approximately 17"x21".
