Description
This unusual, one of a kind sculpture was hand-crafted in Bali, Indonesia from parasite wood. The term "parasite wood" is used by the Balinese to describe wood from trees that has been infected with a parasite plant. Sometimes called "Chinaberry Carvings", the mushroom-like growths attach themselves to a tree. If left alone, they will cover the entire tree, weakening and eventually killing it. Thus, by pruning the infected branches and creating these beautiful works of art, the Balinese are saving the trees and the wildlife they support.
