Description

Julius Shulman is widely considered to be the most important architectural photographer in history.  His archives were acquired by the Getty in 2005.  This photograph is from a group of images made in the mid-1930s just before Shulman became a professional photographer in 1936.  He called these photos his “Vest Pocket Pictures” because they were made with the Kodak Vest-Pocket camera.  This photograph (1936) is of the Women’s Gymnasium at UC Berkeley (designed by architect, Julia Morgan).  Julius Shulman died in July 2009 at the age of 98.

The image is 3x2.5” on 10x8” paper. Signed by Shulman lower right, below image. Framed.

This is a Live Event Item.
