Melanie Hoffman is a freelance trumpet player in the Southern California area. She spent many summers at Arrow Bear Music Camp where she first met and performed under Roger Johnson. After graduating from South Pasadena High School, Melanie attended California State University Los Angeles where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Trumpet Performance. She then pursued graduate studies at the University of Southern California. Her principal teachers have included Walter Laursen, Boyde Hood and Rob Roy McGregor. Melanie has been performing extensively in Southern California for over 23 years. She currently performs with Opera a la Carte, the California Philharmonic, Antelope Valley Symphony, Cypress Pops and the Santa Ana Symphony. While performing with these and other groups she has toured Japan and the Western United States. She teaches trumpet at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music and privately. She also coaches the trumpet sections at Montebello High School and Temple City High School.
