Jeff Voorhees is an Altadena resident and California native, whose work has been included in several So. Calif. exhibits. He draws inspiration for his ceramic artwork from nature – and then takes it to abstraction in his sculptures. His functional pieces reflect a Japanese-style aesthetic, in which the finished work arrives at its destination in asymmetrical balance. His primary method of creating is by hand-building; and though this is more time-consuming, it encourages more contact and time with the clay.
