Description
16" X 20" Pastel
This pastel painting gives the viewer a distinct sense of place – upon looking at it one can imagine the bustling city of Boston just after a rainstorm. Viewable in the background are quintessential Copley landmarks such as the Trinity Church and the towering John Hancock building. The eye wanders downward to the crowded mass of cars below, which is handled exquisitely – the artist employs highlights to hint at wet reflections on the sides of cars and the slick blue road. The color palette is dark to convey a gloomy day in the city, which in this painting is anything but dull.
Shelly Eager started painting in the fall of 2000. Extensive travel, study and observation in books and museums, and painting workshops with numerous pastel artists have contributed to her development as an artist. Shelly is a member of a variety of art associations and her work is in the Permanent Collection of the Museum in Cesis, Latvia, the Rotating Corporate Art Collection of Texas Instruments, and in many private collections. Most recently, Shelly’s work was on exhibit in the Community Gallery the month of September, 2009 and at Preservations Framer’s the month of October 2009.
