Description
24" X 18" Acrylic on Canvas
Krewko’s distinctive black and white image is dark, yet playful. The world within the painting has a symbolism unto itself, dotted with heart, circular, linear, and figural shapes. A discernible staircase leading up to a wheel-type object which reads “$1.00 Cash” creates a dynamic composition; this triangular shape is the foundation upon which Krewko's invented, semi-chaotic civilization rests. Numbers recur throughout the painting, tying in with its numerical title which pokes fun at its own worth.
Paul Krewko is a self taught artist who considers his work to be “new age surrealism”. He has created over 130 acrylic paintings in the last two years in a style unique to him. His black and white images are created to amuse and confuse one’s mind, often filled with ghostly images against well drafted, expansive surroundings. Paul received an Award of Merit at the 2007 Member's Show at the Attleboro Arts Museum. He was a featured artist at Julian’s In Providence, RI and his work is also on display at the “Speed of Thought Playhouse” in North Attleboro, MA.
