Description

27" X 21"  Oil on linen

Manzella depicts this “ Back Door” in a realistic style, choosing to reveal its perfection and imperfections alike. In this symmetrical composition, the door is centered and draws attention to its rigid structure and hard intersecting lines. Yet, the viewer’s eye is still drawn to the meandering lines of the cracked pavement at the bottom of the picture plane and the wavy green overgrowth peeking up from under it. Initially a simple piece which then leads the viewer to speculation, Manzella’s execution of such industrial subject matter is intriguing.
