Description
16" X 20" Digital photograph
This photograph shows a pot of flowers floating down a canal surrounded by trees. The subject matter leads the reader to question: what could a pot of flowers be doing in the water? Could it be piloting the boat using that pile of rope to the left of the picture plane? Regardless of the photographer’s intent, the image is one of serenity – its neutral colors and gray sky are calming, and only interrupted by a pop of red flowers. The red matting further brings out these red flowers, and gives a unique personality to the photograph. Madeleine O. Robinson, Ph.D., is a fine art photographer, semi-retired teacher, historic preservation consultant and writer. Women at Work” at the Museum of Work and Culture in Woonsocket, RI. This show is now on display at the University Library of the University of Rhode Island through November 20, 2009.
