Description

16" X 20" Digital Photograph

Thacher brook here in Attleboro was taken on a morning walk. The pattern of the water flow and inherent blue in the water came together to create an unusual composition that focused on the water itself rather than the surrounding environment. The photo gives us a narrative using running water as its story panel; reflections of trees on the left side of the picture plane become muddled as the water flows over the rocks, resulting in their distortion and complete disappearance on the right side. The photo’s contrasting black, blue, and purple distorted shapes almost force the viewer question what in the picture is real and what is merely a reflection.
