Somewhat reminiscent of Abstract Expressionism, this piece of Dunham’s heavily relies on materials to demonstrate a strong feeling. Through merely paint and line, the image elicits emotion, simultaneously confronting the viewer through intense eye contact. Vibrant, intersecting color shapes spiral out from the face, and its features – however loosely outlined in black – are powerful. All this culminates in an intense, somewhat confrontational “stare” at the viewer.

Doreen Dunham is a native New Englander, born in New Hampshire.  Doreen belongs to numerous art associations, including Brennabuarts, the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative and the Women’s Art Network.  Doreen was juried into the “Out of the Blue” at the Attleboro Arts Museum. Doreen’s work is in several private collections along the eastern seaboard and she shows extensively in the Unites States.
