18" X 21" Watercolor

This piece is a charming still life executed in watercolor. The artist paints her “favorite fruits” in a realistic manner, while still allowing her materials to shine through. Lauro’s attention to detail makes the piece – from the careful rendering of the plump, pinkish apple to shiny reflections on strawberries where the artist has chosen to let the white paper show. Additionally, the layered deep purples of the background allow the soft colors of the fruit to pop, springing forth toward the viewer.

Sylvia Lauro is a resident of Plainville and a member of the Attleboro Arts Museum and the Rhode Island Watercolor Society where she enjoys learning by painting in groups. For several years she has studied with Jean Carvill.
