Description

20" X 16" Monoprint collage on board witrh Acrylic matt medium

This monoprint is from Olin’s "Bird Series," which deals with folklore and superstition around birds throughout cultures in literature, songs and visual imagery. The image of “Bird with Crown” certainly alludes to some myth or story passed down through folklore in its specific subject matter. Olin’s use of earth tones and simple shapes mimic tribal drawings, yet the contrasting visual textures within each shape create a complex pattern, giving the piece a new level of sophistication.
