Description

11" X 9" Oil

Beecher’s use of color and texture in this seascape painting is poignant, and almost otherworldly. Her use of layering of shapes and color is reminiscent of Romantic landscape painting, and reaches a level of abstraction in places. The color palette of this oil painting is especially intriguing: the artist has chosen dark brown, navy, and eggplant for the sky. These deep tones contrast with the eerie yellow light emitting from a cloud which reflects off the white waves crashing against a textured beach.

Christina Beecher received her BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art.  She participated in the 2007 8 Visions Exhibit at the Attleboro Arts Museum.  She has exhibited in numerous group shows throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and she has won numerous awards in these events.
