Description
22" X 24" Monoprint
Carreiro’s haunting monoprint of a small child and an ambiguously-portrayed face is dark, yet intriguing. The simplicity of color palette allows the viewer to focus on its execution and subject. Carreiro’s craftsmanship is evident in a few stray markings of ink, which adds to the piece’s overall mystery. Despite the more compositionally significant elements to the right of the picture plane, the focus of this piece is the little girl standing alone on the left – her eye contact and expression is especially captivating to the viewer.
Beverly Carreiro is an active member and past president of the Monotype Guild of New England. She is a printmaker who works primarily in monotypes, etchings and lithography. A graduate of Bridgewater State College with a BA in Fine Arts, she has taken additional courses at Mass College of Art and the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. She has exhibited her work regionally and nationally. Beverly’s own studio, Weir Printing, is located at 120 Ingell Street, Taunton, MA.
