Description

12" X 10" Watercolor

Needle’s content of the nude is classical in style, but executed in a modern fashion. Her simple use of line uses the very basics to capture the most crucial elements of the figure. In this way, her nude has more character, and becomes an essential part of the room depicted around her.

Annette Buonanno Needle is a Board Member of the National Association of Women Artists. She originated the sculpture reproduction program for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where for over ten years she held the distinguished position of Master-Craftsman-in Charge of the sculpture reproduction studio. Annette is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and abroad, where it is held in many private collections. She is a noted art restorer, conducts a clay sculpture therapy program in New York's Washington Heights District, and also teaches in the "Children with Special Needs" program at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in NYC. Annette Needle's career as a professional sculptor which began at age eighteen, has blossomed from a self-centered desire to create work pleasing to herself, into a desire to relate that art to events which continue to shape her professional life. Her work with both the elderly and with young physically challenged children in recent years has given her new insights which she infuses into her art: the hopes and dreams of contentment on earth.
