"This monotype was created by inking/painting on a thin Plexiglas plate, placing paper on the inked plate, and running the plate and paper through a press.  Every color selection was done separately, requiring accurate registration each time the paper and plate were run through the press.  Color and tone variations were added, and every change or addition required an additional pass through the press."

Alice Merlone has studied printmaking at Southern Connecticut State University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA.  Alice exhibits extensively throughout New England and her work is in numerous private collections.  She is the past president of the Monotype Guild of New England and she is currently the Exhibition Chair for the organization.
