Description

Providence artist Brian Larkin expresses himself in a number of media, and this piece, "Tulip #1" is an example of his latest technique, a Provincetown Whiteline Block Print.

As the name implies, the technique originated in Provincetown, MA, where Brian also spends considerable time creating and displaying art. Invented in 1915, Whiteline Block Printing is considered one of just two original, American art forms (the other being Jazz music) by many authorities. It's an involved, time-consuming process, and though the final results are prints, each one is unique.

Brian Larkin's work hangs in collections on three continents. He is a juried member of the Providence Art Club. His work is seen there and at the Provincetown Art Association and the Cortile Gallery of Provincetown and the Covent Garden Gallery of Wellington, Ontario.
