Café Parisienne is the title of this charming piece, donated by Holland's Gallery and Framing, Warwick, RI.

This is the work of Michel Delacroix, whose naïf works strive to capture the Paris of his childhood, the 1940s - the era of The Occupation. While the irrepressible spirit of Paris remains evident, the gray clouds and smoke seem to speak to the somber, foreboding mood of the period. In the artist's words, it was a time when, "we suddenly jumped fifty years into the past. No more cars in the streets, very few lights. Paris suddenly became very quiet, very dark, and, though people were afraid, there was a brotherhood and spirit that was very delightful."
