This dramatic shot, Flight in Fog, wasn't faked or posed. Photographer William K. Daby captured this incedible image at Castle Hill, Newport, RI through a combination of good luck, timing, and the ability to approach the birds quietly - until he was ready to squeeze the shutter!

Bill Daby earned an Art degree from U-Mass Dartmouth, signed up with Uncle Sam and became an Army photographer. That was followed by a 35+ year career as a photojournalist, mostly with the Providence Journal-Bulletin, during which he won several awards for images shot locally and around the world. Bill continues photographing whatever he finds interesting - and with his keen eye, he finds plenty of intriguing subjects!
