Joseph Francis Saunders  (born June 16, 1981 in  Falls Church, Virginia ) is a  Major League Baseball left-handed starting pitcher  for the  Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim . He attended West Springfield High School  in  Springfield, Virginia . Saunders started off with a great 2009 season. He pitched on opening day for the injured  John Lackey  and  Ervin Santana . To start off the season, Joe went 8-1 with a 3.15 ERA. On May 9,  2009 , Saunders had his first complete game shutout against the  Kansas City Royals .
