Description

Since moving to North Carolina fourteen years ago, I've spent a lot of time outdoors. I guess that's why images of mountains, rivers, beaches, wetlands, and wildlife run through the lyrics. In fact, "When the Rhododendron Bloom" and "The Appalachian Trail Song" were conceived while tramping sections of the Appalachian Trail. Musically, I spend a lot of time listening to the blues, ragtime, and old-timey country music of the ‘20s and ‘30s. You'll find evidence of that running through the acoustic tunes here; The banjo and guitar lines are frailed, fingerpicked, and fretted with a metal slide. "Bull City Blues" is a loving tribute to Durham's 1930's Piedmont blues scene.
