Description

This mixed media piece by Manchester, New Hampshire artist James Chase will certainly inspire conversation and contemplation.  Entitled "Orphan," the piece is a found-object assemblage constructed from an antique Bernz-O-Matic lantern, a cyanotype handmade photograph, paper collage cutouts, acrylic paint, and patina caster wheels. 


James Chase is a media artist, poet, and art educator living in Manchester, New Hampshire.  Chase works sculpturally on themes such as communication and the history of the obsolete, explored with metal, wood and found objects.  His work has been described as "beautiful, contemporary, and provocative." Chase has been published in The Cafe Review in 2009 and featured in the book, The Art of James Chase, published by Neverfading Press, in 2007.  He is a printmaking technician and teacher assistant at The New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester.  Chase offers workshops to local high schools, with a focus of juxtaposing layers and matrixes of assemblages.
