Description

Yosemite View 2005 Syrah
Case (12): $140.00 ($12.49/750ml Bottle)

Yosemite View 2005 Syrah
The nose has raspberry and the sweet hint of oak with cherry underneath. The deep red color delivers on the promise of red fruits like cherries and the aforementioned oak adds some tannins that dry the palate instead of coating it. The acids are there as well and cleanse the mouth. The finish is decent and drying. This is not a syrah meant to be kept but to be enjoyed young. And if the big worry about screw caps is the ability to age the wines bottled with them, then it's so not an issue here.

Like them or not, screw tops are showing up on wine bottles. No long tradition or ceremony in their extraction and no twenty-year studies on storage issues - yet. But do not let the top of the bottle distract you from the Yosemite View's 2005 Syrah inside, It's ready to drink when you are.

Any number of pasta dishes with tomato sauces or acid-based flavors would compliment the acids in the wine and the 13.9 percent alcohol should leave you able to enjoy the next bite and sip. And the next one after that. Try this with grilled meats, or on a cold night in front of a fire.

Yosemite View Winery
The Yosemite View Winery sources much of its fruit from the southern Sierra Foothills near Mariposa, California, just 20 miles from the world-famous national park after which the brand is named. Wines from this mountain growing region have a big, forward style and very distinct personalities; much like the areas' Gold Rush pioneers. Our winemaker blends Yosemite View wines so they retain this inherent, bold character, but are also balanced and delicious for your near-term enjoyment.

Yosemite View produces wine only from grape varietals that grow well in this unique and historic area. Offerings include this well-structured Syrah, a fruity and crisp.

Much like the pioneers of the Gold Rush era, Yosemite View wines highlight the rich, rustic character of this historic region. With grape growing roots tracing back more than 150 years, the Sierra Foothills is one of the oldest major grape growing areas in California. Mariposa County, home of the world-famous Yosemite National Park, is also the location of our primary grape source. Our winemaker emulates the bold, organic beauty of this California landmark in each wine while the Yosemite View label colorfully depicts the stunning grandeur of this national park.

The red wines from the Sierra Foothills require a delicate touch to bring out the full-bodied flavor inherent in the grapes while simultaneously maintaining the substantial tannin structure at an enjoyable level. Must of our fruit is from the northwestern corner of Mariposa County, just above Lake McClure and the town of Hornitos.

Our Yosemite View wines include:
•Sauvignon Blanc
•Merlot
•Cabernet Sauvignon
•Syrah
•Zinfandel
•Reserve Zinfandel

It's all about the grapes...
Made from grapes grown in California's Sierra Foothills, Yosemite View wines are a delicate blend of the region's bold character balanced for delicious near-term enjoyment.
