Description

Costa Rica Fishing Adventure with 4-Night Stay and Airfare for (2)

The stories of Costa Rican Tarpon fishing are historic, and for the last forty years this Caribbean coast has been the world’s best place to hook trophy Tarpon. This road-less wilderness of ocean, river, rain forest and jungle is home to three types of nesting sea turtles, a myriad of bird species, world class Tarpon and Snook fishing. Whether fishing offshore intercepting schools of feeding Tarpon, or casting on a jungle river, you will experience one of sport fishing’s most treasured triumphs.

Your choice of fishing begins with fly fishing in the quiet lagoons that surround the area or heading out towards the Caribbean Sea to catch the famous Silver Kings that may be the biggest fish you have ever caught. You will stay at the Jungle Tarpon Lodge, where fishing guides will help beginners learn how to fly fish and help experienced anglers find the optimal fishing spots to catch the biggest game and the most exotic fish to make your experience once in a lifetime.

The battleground for this fishing adventure is both the ocean via comfortable offshore boats and within the jungle lagoons on flat-bottom john boats.  Catch and release fishing is the method for all Tarpon; after a quick snapshot, these creatures are free to fight again. Most are caught with conventional tackle, but on occasion the fly fishing opportunity will present itself.

Non-fishermen can enjoy a nature trail reserve that borders the ocean on one side and the river on the other, spotting Howler Monkeys, Iguana, Sloth, and the wild birds and plants of the rainforest canopy.

Your trip includes:

  • 4 days of guided fishing trips, including all bait and equipment for (2).

  • Evening alligator spotting.

  • 3 night stay and all daily meals for (2) at the Jungle Tarpon Lodge.

  • 1 night stay at the Hotel Presidente San Jose.

  • Ground transfers from the airport.

  • Round-trip coach class airfare for (2) to Costa Rica on American Airlines.

Itinerary:

Day 1:  Arrive in San Jose.  Begin your van tour of the mountains, cloud forests and a banana plantation to the end of the jungle road. Enjoy a lunch punctuated with local fruits and vegetables. Then you'll board a riverboat for an exciting trip upriver to the island paradise known as Jungle Tarpon Lodge. Fishing fills the afternoon until it is time for happy hour, followed by excellent local cuisine and evening alligator spotting. Stay overnight at the lodge.

Days 2-3:  Each morning will begin with an early cup of steaming Costa Rican coffee. The rest of your day, you and your guest and your local guide will cast a lure or fly to the schools of "Silver Kings" -- sometimes in the Caribbean Sea and sometimes in the quiet lagoons of Jungle Rivers. Whether offshore in the morning or in-river under the Rainforest Canopy after lunch, the target will be Tarpon. Casting lures above a feeding group, your heart will pound with excitement when you feel the mighty fish engulf your small lure!  After setting the hook, 60 to 150 pounds of pure muscle will scream to the surface in one of the most amazing sights in all of sportfishing. Other species like Snook and Quapote and offshore species will spice up your day, but it’s called "Jungle Tarpon" for good reason.

Following happy hour and an evening meal of healthy local foods, you may choose to continue the action with surfcasting at the river’s mouth. Others may select a hammock at the rivers edge to watch the birds and monkeys perform. Enjoy world class fishing with equally famous natural beauty, heart pumping action with marvelous relaxation, and guides and service staff committed to providing you the best of fishing experiences.  Stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 4:  After morning fishing and an enjoyable lunch, return by van to San Jose.  Stay overnight at the Hotel Presidente amidst the nightlife of Costa Rica's capital.

Day 5: Depart San Jose for your international flight returning to the U.S.
