(1) Goat Hike for 4 people in either the Catalina or Santa Rita Mountains
Lunch included.

Hike the trails with friendly pack goats to carry our load, food and beverages.

Purple Mountain Pack Goats is an outfitting business which operates under a Special Use Permit from the United States Forest Service. We guide day hikes, overnight hikes and camping trips in the Coronado National Forest (which covers most of southeastern Arizona). We also work with surveyors, photographers, outdoors sportsmen and others to carry equipment and to pack camps in and out.

In addtion to hiking and camping trips, we plan educational field trips for grades 3-12. The trips include age-appropriate lessons and activities in ecology and environmental biology.

Hiking with pack animals make the trails more accessible to everyone, especially seasoned citizens, individuals with disabilities that prevent them from carrying backpacks, and families hiking with children. Hiking with the DiMaggios has the added dimension of gourmet food and information about natural history as well as the flora and fauna of the area.

HERE ARE WHAT A FEW ARE SAYING ABOUT US:

"This is the first permit in our district and I'd like to see it grow. Goat packing is a nice, low-tech, low-impact way of hiking without having to carry a load. We consider the environment impact to be low." -Candance Allen, District Ranger, United States Forest Service

"The value of pack animals becomes abundantly evident as the DiMaggios lay out a feast of chicken, pasta, vegetables, chilled apple cider, brownies and other foods that wouldn't fit conveniently in a hiker's day pack." Doug Kreutz, The Arizona Daily Star

"I am convinced goat packing is a win-win situation. The goats do the work, DiMaggio does the cooking, and we have the fun." Betty Leavengood, The Desert Leaf
