Description
Ammonites are chambered shelled organisms that went extinct 65 million years ago. These organisms were closely related to modern mollusks. The fossil forms when discarded shell are buried in sediment, and sometimes as in this example, leaving a hollow place in each chamber.
This is a particularly nice example as you can tell from the photos and any collector or budding scientist will appreciate its history and beauty
