Description

Chinese brush painting has a very long history.  Over the centuries the painting tradition developed a distinctive interaction with poetry and calligraphy.  Popular subjects of the Chinese brush painting include landscapes, flowers, fruits, birds, animals, fish and human figures.  Among these subjects, Peony Flowers are not only the national flower for China but also a symbol of royal and good luck.  The painting shown in the figure, Peony Flowers, with a poem written in calligraphy as part of the composition, was painted by Ming Sun and calligraphy by Hong Cheng (Allie 2/3 Yellow).  Ms. Sun has been doing Chinese Brush Painting for the past two decades and has focused on Peony Flowers and Landscapes.  Her paintings have been selected for a number of Chinese art exhibitions and published in local art journals.
