ABOUT THE ARTIST

This work expresses through geometry my love of integration and balance.  These features impart an inherent meditative quality to the art.  My recent exhibition at Noho Gallery (Color Squared III) featured colorful, abstract, geometric acrylic paintings and works on paper relating more to movement than stability.  A principal focus was on the optical qualities of color. A surrounding yellow or red can influence orange just as purple can affect red or blue.   The interaction of colors was most important.  The use of coplimentary colors created an especially intense “push/pull” effect.  Artwork with black, white and grays can produce a strong sense of action or stillness depending on the artist’s intent.   The works of Seurat and Albers have been instrumental in inspiring my work.
