Description
A set of the Great Books of the Western World was donated to the UUCA bookstore. This is a series of books that presents the Western Canon in a set of 54 volumes published in 1952 by Encyclopaedia Britannica.
Robert Hutchins wrote the first volume as an introduction and Mortimer Adler edited the first edition and developed the next two volumes, "The Great Ideas: A Syntopicon," which amounts to a synthesis of ideas presented in the books.
All 54 volumes are included in the set. They are in very good to excellent condition. Additionally the 10 volume Gateway to the Great Books and 7 of the 10 Great Ideas Guides are included. There is also a 2 volume set on Great Music Composers.
