Description

Treat yourself and some of your friends (up to a total of 10 people) to a "personalized" tour of one of Atlanta's best kept secrets led by a knowledgeable Oakland Cemetery volunteer.  Oakland's 48 acres offer a superb example of a rural garden cemetery.  It is more than a burial ground; it is an outdoor art museum, a botanical garden, an arboretum, an Audubon wildlife sanctuary, an event venue, an invaluable historical and educational resource, and an active city park.  The tour will introduce you to prominent  "residents" and will explore some of the symbolism so common in Victorian Era cemeteries.

Special Instructions

The "typical" tour lasts for 90 minutes.  You can (within reasonable limits) decide how long you want to spend.  You can also choose the date and time (daylight hours only) for your tour.  Everyone should wear comfortable walking shoes.  Oakland is a photographer's dream, so bring your camera!
