Nobel Peace Prize Artist! 

Born in Trondheim, Norway 1949, with exhibits in Scandinavia, Canada, Japan, NYC and Marbella, Spain, Elling Reitan was named Nobel Peace Prize artist in 2000. Artspeak [Vol. XIV, No. 4] calls  him "a gifted visionary".

Reitan is a former student of noted Norwegian painter Odd Nerdum [1982 – 1987] and studied graphics with Bjørn Sverrbo.  His work reflects a "magic realistic" quality with haunted dream-like scenes in sparkling color and exacting detail.  A sense of drama and mystery permeates his work, investing it with a haunting, symbolic power.
