Description
Wine maker Mike Grgich started it all for California when his wine from Chateau Montelena won at the famed 1976 Paris wine tasting and put California wines on the map. His tradition of excellence continues with his own vineyard, Grgich Hills. This wine was the Gold Medal winner at the 2004 Tasters Guild International Wine Judging. The Grgich 2000 vintage Cab began with a cool growing season and the 2000 grape harvest was a bit later than usual. Additional time on the vine allowed the grapes to develop intense varietal character and exceptional quality. In the nose, you will notice a generously scented Cabernet fragrance of ripe black fruit, cassis and cedar. As you indulge in your first sip, a fullness of texture prepares you for a big, ripe and opulent wine. Your palette will not be disappointed! Young, robust tannins suggest that this Cabernet will be a welcome addition to your cellar, where it will continue to develop even more complexity and elegance over the years. About the only place you might get this is here, or at the Vineyard itself if they have any left to part with.
