At the now famous Paris tasting of 1976, Ridge was there with it's acclaimed Monte Bello Zinfandel blend. Since then, Ridge has grown and flourished and is still guided by it's original wine making master and CEO, Paul Draper. An intellectual man, he studied philosophy and Stanford University and eschewed the usual oenological career-path at Davis University, which in his opinion adopts a rather formulaic approach to making wine. Draper is renowned for his philosophical outlook on viticulture and life. Robert Parker says of todays' Ridge "I hold Ridge Vineyards in high esteem, not only their famous Montebello, but also their Lytton Springs, York Creek and of course, Geyserville Zinfandel".
