Description

Tour a 600-acre organic dairy ranch and a bustling creamery and discover how milk gets from the farm to your family’s table. At McClelland’s Dairy in west Sonoma County, you will visit the calf nursery, stop in at the milking barn, hand-milk a gentle cow, taste European-style butter produced by the farm, and witness the McClelland family’s award-winning environmental conservation practices. You and your group of up to 10 will then drive 20 minutes to the Clover-Stornetta Farms dairy processing plant in Petaluma to learn exactly what happens after milk from McClelland’s is trucked to town. At the Clover plant -- home to local advertising icon Clo the Cow -- you will see how milk is pasteurized, visit the quality testing lab, and watch containers being filled. Your personal guides at McClelland’s and at Clover-Stornetta will be third-generation members of their respective family businesses.

Both tours are special: The McClelland visit includes activities not featured in regular tours and the Clover-Stornetta plant is not normally open to the public.
