Description

Developed by HRS 6th Grade teacher Ciara Coleman and taught by HRS 6th Grade teacher Linda Hoopes, Transition to Middle School Math is a 3-week, self-contained morning program (8:30 a.m. -noon) for rising 6th graders. The primary purpose is to provide transitional support by previewing upcoming math challenges in the Head-Royce 6th Grade curriculum on a foundation review of essential skills. Areas for review will include 4-Operations with positive integers, fractions and decimals; expressing and evaluating patterns with variables; basic geometric formulas; basic data sets and graphing. The areas for preview will include estimation; 4-Operations with positive and negative integers, fractions and decimals; evaluating equations with multiple variables; formulas & properties; angle identification and basic constructions; data collection, verification and sampling; probability of simple events; problem solving strategy; and more. 

Special Instructions

Good for 2010 Summer Program. For rising 6thgraders. 


Great alone or in combination with afternoon athletics or workshops in the arts & technology for a unique summer balance.
