Description

6th graders created four beautiful serving trays of Moorish inspired tiles for the Spring Auction.  After studying Moorish (Islamic Spanish) art from the 9th-15th centuries, and particularly the tile designs that emerged from this period and beyond, students designed and created their own highly patterned colorful tiles.  Radial design, symmetry, stylized organic and geometric patterns, the use of the color blue – all of these were discussed in the context of Islamic and Spanish art and incorporated into the final tile designs.  The results are bold and eye catching! (13” x 19”)
