Grab a friend and go see the Vermont Youth Orchestra's Winter Concert on January 24, 2010 (3pm) at the Flynn Center in Burlington.

The concert will feature recent work by VYO Music Alive composer-in-residence Robert Paterson in this program of musical contrasts. The VYOA is thrilled to be working with Mr. Paterson as part of a three-year Meet the Composer/League of American Orchestras Music Alive residency awarded in 2009. Paterson’s Enlightened City, written in 2005, refers directly to the bright lights of Ithaca, NY. The program also includes Smetana’s lighthearted Overture from The Bartered Bride and Dvoák’s upbeat Symphony No. 8. Pianist Tim Woos, a VYO senior from New Haven, is featured in Brahms’ solemn Piano Concerto No. 1.
